Privacy notice

Last updated 15 October 2026

This notice explains what PaxSave collects when you use the PaxSave app at app.paxsave.com, join our waitlist or visit paxsave.com, why, and how to have it deleted.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist, you give us:

  • your name and email address
  • your country
  • what you want to do (start a friends circle, run a SACCO, or join a SACCO)
  • your group size, if you choose to tell us

We also record the date and time you joined and the page or button you joined from.

To stop automated abuse of the form, we keep a one-way scrambled code (a hash) made from your IP address for up to 24 hours. We cannot turn it back into your IP address, and we delete it automatically.

When you visit the site we count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you. This site sets no cookies.

In the PaxSave app

When you sign up, or a group invites you, we keep:

  • your phone number, and your email address if you add one
  • your name, and the PaxSave ID we create for you
  • your PIN, stored only as a scrambled code that cannot be turned back into the PIN
  • the circles and SACCOs you start or join, your role in each, and the invitations you send or receive

If you register a SACCO, we also keep its registered name, registration number and certificate, and the officers you name. If you apply to join a SACCO, we keep your national ID number (encrypted), your work, your next of kin’s name and phone number, and your referees’ member numbers. If your SACCO brings its members list to PaxSave, we keep your member number, your contact details and the balances it holds for you; you see them only after you sign in. When you sign a deed of accession, we keep the name you typed, the time, and a fingerprint of the text you signed.

We keep a record of sign-ins and important actions to protect you and your groups. The app uses two cookies it needs to work: one keeps you signed in, and one remembers your phone so you can sign in with your PIN. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we collect it

  • To run your PaxSave ID and your groups, and to send you sign-in codes and invitations by text message or email.
  • To keep one PaxSave ID per person: each phone number, email address and national ID can belong to one PaxSave ID only. This stops one person posing as many members.
  • To check that a SACCO is registered before it can use SACCO tools.
  • To email you when PaxSave opens where you live, if you joined the waitlist.
  • To decide which countries and which kinds of groups we serve first.

For the app we rely on our agreement with you (the Terms) and on our need to prevent fraud. For the waitlist we rely on your consent, which you give when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time. We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to make automated decisions about you.

Who handles it

In the app, members of your groups see your name and your role. Your SACCO’s managers see the details in your application and the member records the SACCO brought to PaxSave. PaxSave’s review team sees registration certificates. Text messages are delivered by Twilio and Africa’s Talking, which receive only your phone number and the message. Sign-in emails are delivered by Resend, which receives only your email address and the message.

Your details are stored with Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts this website, the app and their databases. Cloudflare may process the data in the United States and other countries. We do not share your details with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your PaxSave ID and its details while you use the app. When you ask us to close it, we delete or anonymise your details within 90 days, except records a SACCO or the law requires us to keep, such as signed deeds and membership records. Sign-in codes are deleted within a day.

We keep waitlist details until PaxSave launches in your country and for up to 12 months after that, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the details we hold about you, or to stop contacting you. Email hello@paxsave.com from the address you signed up with. We reply within 30 days.

United States. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have these same rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.

Tanzania. Under the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, you have the right to be told how your data is used, to access and correct it, to object to its use and to have it erased. Your details may be stored outside Tanzania by Cloudflare, with safeguards for your data. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission.
